In a report by DFC Int, other handheld gaming platforms’ growth to remain relatively flat while iPhone and iPod Touch market continues to expand. Shocking! Or maybe not. If you are addicted to iPhones games like I am, this is not news. I game on both the iPhone 3Gs and a first gen Touch. (I did say I was an addict, don’t look so surprised.) I did not shell out the $2,495 DFC Int wants for this report. But I trust TUAW‘s reporting about what it contains. Where Trust is defined as “I suspect they are much more likely to have purchased, read a friend’s copy, or know someone who read the report” than the staff here at App Zealot. What part of “I love free and cheap games and apps on the iPhone” implies anyone here bought the very expensive market report? Is it a game? ‘Nough said.
Rat on the Run delivers an amusing platform game that reminded me of Donkey Kong without the climbing.The object is to eat the cheese and avoid spiders, snot, buzz saws, and more as you move throughout your house. There are two modes. Challenge mode prompts you to get all the cheese on a given level to complete it. Arcade mode pushes you to get as much cheese as quickly as possible as the bonus timer counts down. The levels are quick and progress rapidly in difficulty. The graphics are simple and well drawn. Simple directional control and jumping make it easy to start and taunt you into the “OK, just one more time and I’ll get it” mode. Some of the recurrent themes in reviews elsewhere call Rat on the Run cute, simple, funny, and addicting.
Donut Games has Rat on the Run free for this weekend (Oct 23-25). For free, this game is worth a look. I like free. I wish I had more free time to play more games. Happy Friday!
While the ability to recognize each other providse value and the minimalist white design is Apple chic, Geek Stuff 4 U provides a new look for your earbuds. At ¥ 2,000.00 these might be expensive or dirt cheap. A quick trip to a currency converter site and I see that ~ $22 USD seems very reasonable for these buds.
The cat paws do not do much for me, but I find myself strangely drawn to the bolts.
